The history
The estate is the property of the Cassetti Burchi family of Florence who have been producing wines of great quality with much dedication and passion since the 1980s. Running the family business is the son Alessandro who, at the beginning of the ’90s, supervised the restoration of the buildings and saw to the wine and extra virgin olive oil being granted Organic Certification.
The Territory and the Vineyards
We are 30 kilometres from Florence and 30 from Siena in the heart of the Chianti Classico region; 60 hectares of property of which 15 are vineyards, lying between the typical Tuscan village of San Donato in Poggio and the small town of Castellina in Chianti.
Here, Mother Nature has endowed the area with just the right ingredients: a hilly terrain, rich in limestone in the highest parts, and schist in the lower western part with medium levels of clay and chalk, ensuring good water retention.
The altitude of the vineyards varies between 450 and 550 metres above sea level.
The climate is dry and is influenced by the sea (as shown by the presence of pines) with strong variations in temperature between day and night.
The exposure of the vineyards is south-east, south-west.
